The History and Power of Manifestation

What is Manifestation?

Manifestation is bringing an observable noun (person, place, thing or idea) into your existence through thought and action, via the setting of clear intention. No scientific studies have been published about manifestation, and it is largely considered a pseudoscience, because it has not passed the rigors essential to scientific method, but before you dismiss manifestation as hoop-la, please keep in mind that psychiatry, economics, political science, chiropractic, nutritionists, and a lot more, are also pseudosciences…

History of Manifestation

The Law of Attraction was first mentioned in 1891, by Prentice Mulford. In 1897, Ralph Waldo Trine wrote In Tune with the Infinite, manifestation is actually an ancient principle, which claims that when one speaks his desire, the entire universe has no choice but to conspire in his favor to not only achieve, but to grant that desire.

Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go forward and make your dreams come true. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Some Common Methods of Manifestation

Clear Your Mind

Meditation can be a powerful tool for setting the stage for manifestation. Clearing your mind and breathing deeply as you focus on body systems and sensations is said to put us in touch with our higher selves. There are many methods of meditation, and some of them only require a simple 5-minute-a-day-trick.

Practice Gratitude

Naming the things you are grateful for follows the principle that the universe will align you with what you value and give you more of it. Some speak those things aloud, either right before bed, or very soon upon waking – or both. The premise of this is to connect with the subconscious mind and cultivate a message of gratefulness. This method can be viewed as a form of meditation where action and awareness merge.

Set Clear, Specific Intention

This is where a lot of us get it wrong. We say we want a vehicle, and we don’t want to be too specific, because that’s just greedy, right? Greed isn’t aligned with gratitude, so we’re just going to ask for a vehicle. That will be fine, won’t it?

Nope…well, unless you really wanted that rusted 1972 Ford LTD, sans engine, up on blocks, and the finest burnt orange shag carpet the ‘70’s had to offer. In that case, you did just fine. However, if you really meant you wanted a fully-loaded SUV that has brand new tires, no more than 3 years old, with 30,000 miles on it, that gets 60 mpg, and costs $12,016.00, go ahead and say that. Write it down. Start shopping.

Vision Board

Some have found the act of cutting out pictures or words from sources like old magazines and gluing them to a posterboard aid in the focus of what is being manifested. Others find that a digital vision board is just as effective. You can use representations or abstracts, such as health, to connect to your vision, or you can find images that are exactly, or very close to what you want. You can also have a variety of different boards to distinguish focuses between different aspects in your life, for example: Personal, Professional, Tangible, Abstract, etc.

Manifestation Can Make Your Dreams Your Reality

Above all, manifestation involves taking action to bring about the results you want in your life and environment. Manifesting is the unwavering belief that what you desire is possible – even when it seems impossible at first. One of the best parts about manifestation is that it is a practice anyone can learn and use. No matter who you are or what your current situation may be, learning to manifest can help you move toward your goals.
